How to Play Jumanji
We know it can be hard to find Jumanji anymore, which is why we would recommend buying it if you see it. But that’s beside the point. We wanted to host a resource that would teach people how to play Jumanji, just in case your directions are missing.
Game Play
To get started, all you have to do is have each player select a pawn, which will be placed at the starting position, and rescue die. Each player must then roll their die and move their pawn accordingly. If a player was to land on a blank space, that means he must draw an adventure card.
Adventure cards will release a trap which must be indicated to other players by using the decoder. At that point, you must flip over the timer, and the other players have eight seconds to roll the number necessary to rescue you. Each player must roll the number otherwise you’ll have to move back the number of spaces provided by the adventure card.
If each player does manage to roll the number required to rescue you, those players are allowed to move that number ahead on the board. In this manner, the game is pretty straightforward; however, there are a few more things you’ll have to look out for:
Rhino Spaces: If a player was to land on a Rhino space, he must pass the die to his left. If that player rolls a “5″ or “8,” then the player on the rhinos space turn will end; however, if a “5″ or “8″ doesn’t show, you would move back one space, and the dice would continually be passed around in this fashion.
Circle Spaces: When a player lands on a space with a circle, it means he has entered the jungle, which subjects every player to the next animal and rescue item. Each player must then roll the number indicated by those items in order to continue.
Doomsday Grid: On the left of the board, there is a doomsday grid that holds 10 adventure cards for failed rescue attempts. Once all 10 spaces are exhausted, the game must then start over.
How to Win the Game
In order to win, a player’s pawn must reach the center of the board before the doomsday grid is filled up. It’s that simple!
